Hunter Hutchinson

Hunter Hutchinson was born and raised in Abilene, Texas where he attended Wylie High School. Currently, Hunter is a senior at Texas Tech University where he is pursuing a degree in Business; He is also an alumni of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity, in which he was heavily involved in the Greek community.

Hunter’s journey unknowingly began in 2008 when he lost his father, Chuck Hutchinson, to cancer at the young age of 14. His father was a huge inspiration to him and is the reason he learned how to play the guitar. Chuck Hutchinson’s passing was incredibly hard on Hunter and his family, especially at such a young age. About 6 months later, a cancer benefit golf tournament was put on at The Abilene Country Club in honor of Hunter’s dad. Aaron Watson sponsored one of the holes and was also one of the performers for the event. Hunter spent the day with Aaron and the two quickly became close. Aaron brought Hunter to the concert later that night and put him in a chair in the middle of the stage during the performance. That day changed his life forever.

Hunter began learning how to play guitar when he was 17. After receiving a baseball injury, he was lying around the house recovering when he saw his dads favorite guitar sitting in the corner and decided to pick it up. He sat at the computer on YouTube for countless hours learning how to play basic chords and strum. The first song Hunter learned to play was Amarillo By Morning. Hunter began to write songs and record them. One of his fraternity brothers had put up one of hunter’s recordings on YouTube and by the next day, it already had 2,000 views. Hunter was blown away by this and decided that singing and songwriting was what he wanted to do. The first song Hunter wrote was for his dad, Chuck Hutchinson. This song is probably the most powerful and meaningful song Hunter has ever written and is played at every single show. After hearing some of Hunter’s songs and ideas, Aaron began to work with hunter and collaborate on song writing.

In March of 2015, Hunter released his first full-length album entitled “What Do You Say?” which was produced with Aaron Watson by Big Note Studio in Abilene, Texas. This album can be found on Spotify, iTunes, and on Amazon. Over the last two years, Hunter and his band have played with and opened for many great artists’ such as Aaron Watson, Josh Abbott Band, William Clark Green, Randy Rogers Band, Cory Morrow, Eli Young Band, Kevin Fowler, Wade Bowen, Zane Williams, Hank Williams III, Turnpike Troubadours, Whiskey Meyers, and many more!
